Duration
12 weeks
Stage 1 · Problem Space
Why existing financial dashboards fail users
Financial teams were drowning in data yet starving for insight. The existing tools showed numbers — but not meaning. We set out to redesign the relationship between humans and financial data.
Stage 2 · Research
What 48 interviews revealed about financial pain
We conducted 48 in-depth user interviews, 6 contextual observations, and competitive audits of 12 financial tools over 4 weeks.
Stage 3 · Personas
Three archetypes, one unified solution
From research synthesis, we identified three distinct user archetypes — each with different mental models and interaction needs with financial data.
Stage 4 · User Flows
How users move through FinanceOS
Three critical flows mapped and validated. Each flow reduces decision steps by at least 40% compared to the legacy product.
Stage 5 · Information Architecture
A structure built around how users think, not how data is stored
We moved from a feature-organized IA to a task-oriented IA. Every navigation decision was validated through card sorting (38 participants) and tree testing (62 participants).
Reflections
This project was a testament to the importance of thorough user research and iterative design in creating solutions that truly meet user needs. It honed my skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and effective communication, setting a solid foundation for my future endeavors in UX/UI design.
